Matthew Rhys possesses a multitude of impressive qualities: he is an incredibly talented actor, renowned for his roles in popular TV shows like Brothers & Sisters and Perry Mason, as well as notable films such as A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood and The Post. In addition to his acting prowess, Rhys is an Emmy winner for his outstanding performance in FX’s The Americans. Off-screen, he is known for his love of boats and a documented passion for wine. Interestingly, Rhys seems unfazed by a recent hacking incident that has taken over his Twitter account. Despite not being an avid Twitter user, Rhys occasionally engages with fans and shares updates on the platform. However, starting August 3, someone who clearly isn’t Rhys has exploited his account to sell signed MacBook Pros. The hacker’s scheme started with a typical online scam tweet, proclaiming a “special promotion.” Falling for such a line would only lead to embarrassment. The hacker has persisted over the weekend, expanding their deception by adding an old clip of Rhys saying “Good luck, everyone” to lend authenticity, although it’s undoubtedly a ruse. Furthermore, they resorted to quoting themselves, claiming that their Twitter DMs were open for worldwide shipping. Clearly, grammar is not their primary concern, as they are more focused on getting rid of the laptops. Rhys addressed the situation through a statement on his boat’s Instagram account. Although the top portion of his announcement is cut off, he clarifies that he has been hacked and is not involved in selling computers. He also mentions his account being locked while the issue is being resolved and requests help in spreading the word. Rest assured, Rhys is certainly not dispatching Apple products to fans. The A.V. Club contacted Rhys’s representatives for an update on the account’s status. Despite all this, Rhys continues with his daily routine, seemingly unperturbed by the imposter scamming people and even as fans persistently advise him to check his Twitter. Unaffected by the chaos, Rhys can be found enjoying the tranquility of Rarebit, his boat available for charter in the New York City harbor. Recent Instagram posts show the boat’s arrival at the harbor, accompanied by comments from fans insisting he checks his Twitter, making humorous references to their Twitter friendship. Twitter users also express astonishment at the lack of action taken by the platform to stop the scam, with the hacker actively blocking anyone who calls them out. It is genuinely disheartening to witness such security loopholes within Twitter. Nevertheless, amidst the crumbling online world, Rhys finds solace in the fact that he can relax on his boat.
Matthew Rhys shows a blissfully nonchalant attitude towards the recent hacking of his Twitter account.
